Skye is the day to day face at Valtair Park, having been riding for over 20 years and teaching for over 10. With a vast knowledge of the equine industry starting out her early days in pony club, then went on to compete in EA eventing and then through to dressage. Having groomed for some of Australia's top dressage riders her passion encompasses performance horse health and care.

Luke is a livestock agent for Ian Weir and Son in Lismore, servicing the local area with all their cattle needs. When he is at Valtair Park you'll find him doing the day to day care of the horses and being our incredible photographer.

Together Skye and Luke work tirelessly to ensure all the horses at Valtair Park have the best possible care and everyone that comes to Valtair Park feels safe and encouraged in their riding.

During your visit at Valtair Park you may also run into our newest team member Ashley. Ashley has a strong appreciation for the horse industry and is very passionate about working with and around performance horses.

Rocky

When pulling into Valtair Park you will most likely be greated with a bark Hello from Rocky. He is Skye's shadow and a very gentle soul.

This young looking long legged Staffy is the Junior Coach, Arena inspector and also helps with the cattle work.

He does think he is human so he with quite often be found on his couch watching over the entry and the cross-ties.

Ashley

“The more you know the more you know you don’t know - This is one of my favourite quotes by Aristotle. Throughout my experiences in life, I’ve come to understand how big the world really is and in turn how little I actually understand and I think that transcends into the world of horses. With 26 years spent around horses, and six of those working for equestrian establishments, my experiences have taught me that every new horse, every interaction with them offers another opportunity to build on my learning. The dressage discipline would be my favourite, I am constantly in awe with its complexity and elegance no matter how much more I become familiar with it. As a dog trainer my understanding of learning is very ingrained with behavioural and operant conditioning however with horses I believe it goes way beyond that and its roots are embedded in the relationship between horse and rider. I love working around horses and despite some attempts at life changes I always find myself back with them, it’s a passion I hope will continue to grow.”

The Farm

Valtair Park was purchased in 2004 by the Stenning Family.

It was a run down farm with little infrastructure and badly maintained pastures. Over the years the family has worked tirelessly to make it into the flourishing farm it is today. With ecosystems of the salt water creek and rotational grazing of the beef and miniature cattle operation, twenty years on the farm holds a unique history and incredible transformations.

The cattle operation is now known as Valtair Pastoral Co. also run along side Valtair Park by Skye Stenning and Luke Allen.

The Build

The agistment centre was founded and built by father and daughter Henry and Skye Stenning, starting in 2018 with a couple of excavators, tip trucks and an old mining truck.

Along side Skye running a farm, Henry's other building pursuits, a drought and then flood, the journey to where they are now was no small one.

This build was not built by a big team of contractors, it was by a family and the small town businesses that helped along the way.

There is still a long was to go, but for now the team are very excited to be open and welcoming the far north coast equestrian community.
